  • This place is very nice to eat at in Hollywood. I got the Tonchin classic Tokyo tonkotsu, black cod fish bun, and a yuzu margarita. The tebasaki and curry and cheese wings which were decent. The tonkotsu broth was good, the roasted chashu pork was very good and different than the normal fatty ones. It was overall good. The black cod fish bun was very good. I liked the tartare sauce was very good and it went well with the fried fish. The yuzu margarita was also very good and refreshing. Both the matcha and strawberry kakigori were excellent and good. Not too sweet but very tasty. The staff was nice and attentive to our orders. They were able to get our food and dessert in a timely manner. The place has a nice atmosphere with bar vibes along with a more quiet/moderate vibe with privacy.

  • Phil, the manager at Tonchin LA, welcomed us as their first Blackbird app customers, setting the tone for an evening of standout ramen and warm hospitality. The classic tonkotsu delivered exactly what you want from LA’s ramen scene: creamy, pork-forward broth with tender chashu that practically melted. We also tried the tsukemen, which featured excellent chewy noodles, though the dashi-heavy broth leaned more on seafood notes than I typically prefer. The cucumber salad stole the show as a starter. The dressing had this addictive sweet-tangy quality that had us scraping the bowl. Shishito peppers came blistered and smoky, though be warned: a few pack serious heat that’ll catch you off guard. The tsukune buns were another highlight, with well-seasoned chicken meatballs in soft, pillowy buns. For dessert, the Tokyo Banana was a fun, not-too-sweet finish. Our corner booth was extremely dim, making it tough to read the menu or photograph the food. The staff brought extra candles, which helped, but the lighting remains an issue worth noting. Service was attentive throughout. When a cocktail we didn’t order appeared on the bill, our server corrected it immediately without fuss. High-quality ramen and thoughtful Japanese small plates make Tonchin worth a visit. Just maybe request a brighter table, or bring your phone flashlight for the menu.

  • Tonchin Los Angeles: Where Modern Japanese Dining Meets Comfort Tucked away in the heart of Los Angeles, Tonchin is a stylish, contemporary Japanese restaurant that feels both vibrant and welcoming from the moment you walk in. Known for its inventive take on ramen and izakaya-inspired small plates, Tonchin manages to balance modern flair with a respect for traditional flavors. The space itself is beautifully designed—minimalist wood finishes, warm lighting, and an open kitchen that lets you watch the chefs in action. The vibe is lively but never overwhelming, making it equally suited for a casual lunch or an evening out. The star here is undoubtedly the ramen. The Tokyo Tonkotsu Ramen is rich and comforting, with a velvety broth that has just the right amount of depth without feeling too heavy. The noodles have great texture—chewy and springy—and toppings like the marinated soft-boiled egg and chashu pork are done to perfection. Beyond the ramen, Tonchin’s small plates are worth exploring. The crispy Brussels sprouts with yuzu kosho aioli were addictive, offering a pop of brightness that balanced out the richness of the ramen. The karaage fried chicken was juicy and tender, with a shatteringly crisp exterior. Service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Staff took the time to explain menu highlights and offer pairing suggestions, which was especially helpful given the range of sake and Japanese cocktails on offer. Prices are on the higher side compared to your average ramen shop, but the quality of ingredients and the thoughtful preparation justify the splurge. Overall, Tonchin is a fantastic addition to the Los Angeles dining scene—ideal for ramen lovers looking for something elevated but still deeply satisfying. Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned ramen aficionado, you’ll find plenty to love here. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • The best, most authentic ramen in LA! The staff and service is always excellent as well, especially Stephanie who always takes great care of us. If you want to try real, authentic Japanese ramen, look no further than Tonchin. Highly recommended!

  • INCREDIBLE, I got the spicy tantan and the spicy level was PERFECT kept a nice tingle on my lips and tongue throughout and it was until the last few bites did I feel the heat just so slightly increase. The balance of flavor was wonderfully crafted and I could taste all the ingredients, same of which applies to the vegan miso ginger my wife ordered which was sooo savory for a vegetarian dish. Fried fish bun was such a pleasant surprise, I knew it sounded tasty but it more than exceeded my expectations it's a must from now on whenever I go! It's not the restaurants fault but parking in the area is horrendous, took 10 minutes to find parking so just keep that in the back of your mind, but I promise you won't regret it

  • I had such a great experience here! Danny, the manager, welcomed me right away and even set me up with a perfect corner table—which made the whole meal feel extra relaxed. Alissa, our server, was amazing—super friendly, professional, and on top of everything without ever rushing us. The ramen itself was incredible, full of flavor and beautifully balanced. Between the food, the atmosphere, and the team, this spot definitely deserves 5 stars. I’ll be back for sure!

  • The is a modern ramen restaurant with a variety of starters. The service was excellent and there is live music there to keep you entertained. Ramon was decent but can't compare to what you get in Japan. The tonkatsu ramen cha shui is super thin. I like it but some might prefer the thicker charred flavor. The tuna salad is actually the best. They could have used some better fruit fly control. Saw several flying around us that is a bit disturbing. Parking is not easy so be aware.

  • We ordered the ban ban chicken mazemen, which comes with hot or cold options. We chose the cold one it’s served more like a mixed noodle dish, and it was delicious. We also had hojicha tea, which paired really well with everything. The atmosphere was calm and cozy.
